I found myself missing my grandparents today...looking at the beautiful plants my Grandmother Tavis left me......My Grandfather reading in the backyard, the sun on his face....tobacco spit on his chin.....My Grandmother cooking the best pies and pastry.....laughter...mixed with gentle anger.....They taught me how to pray, how life seperates the generations...and then life brings the people back together...I saw them all before they passed from this place...and told them as a child, as a young man...and as an adult how much they meant to me...and their stories...They guide me late in the night...when my heart is lonely...and the path is dark....a brief glow of their lives carries me through....I thank them all the time...Their memory....a song that never stops playing its warm sounds in my mind...and in my heart. My journey is not half way through....I hope that I may do all that I can....so that one day....when they meet me at the gates, between this life and the next....I might bring a smile to their faces....
